Was This Learning?
By Samuel Cornett
The moon is many millions of miles
away sometimes
And so time battles on, my mind
in some happy conflict
Shrouded by a hotel above the sea,
Where I forget the profoundness
I remembered earlier
For the sake of happiness–
And life goes on
While I am shrouded in blackness
With only the moon and stars–
Or was it a star, or the tiny leaf of a
tree?
All that I could take, that gave me worth
Was my sweetness when I was a boy
And always wanting to work hard
and try
But when? And why? My mind rests.
You know you’re happy when you’re
always becoming.
