and the universe caught me

and the universe caught me

By Wen Lee

Slipping off the edge of comfort
eyes closed
The moon and the stars collapse into my chest
And my head start to spiral

But the universe catches me

mesmerized
Counting the trails of constellations within its gaze
I give into the gravitational pull
And again
I close my eyes

And again, the universe catches me

Vega etched herself under my skin
And I’ve collected Lyra from falling so much
the desire to bridge the Milky Way becomes indistinguishable
Of whether it’s mine or hers
But when I close my eyes this time,

the universe had moved on.
